I was diagnosed with FrontoTemporal Dementia at age 59. This saw the conclusion to my "normal" working life and a chance to pursue my hobby of building a model railway. A year latter the opportunity to get involved in developing a local Dementia Friendly community presented itself, and this has, to quote Frank Herbert in his novel Dune, "Awoken The Sleeper Within".
